it's a short discussion, but it's interesting to see an outsider's perspective on the "new light.".

Not only that, Ballistic, but bars often have half price for single ladies on singles nights.
Where, I ask you, is the fairness in THAT?
LOL, you want to hang with a bunch of dudes?
the round of "international" conventions that started in the middle of last year in the states "wrapped" up last weekend in new zealand.
there was some media converage (from which i derived the information that follows).
(someone who knows how to copy links may be able to provide the relevant media links?).
Circuit Assembly from two years ago was the first time I've ever been to one where there wasn't one candidate for baptism. The crazy thing, hilarious in hindsight too, was that the speaker acted like everything was normal. We still had the baptismal talk , and the baptismal song like it was appropriate to do so or something. The speaker appeared surprised too as he stated from the platform in more words or less, "You mean we don't have one candidate?" I was behind the stage in disbelief myself like WTF?!?
The last couple District Conventions and Circuit Assemblies since have had candidates, and our congregation just had a few baptised. Thing about it though is, it's all born-ins or ones who had some association with the religion when they were younger and came back to the congregation after making some sorry decision in life that has left them messed up in the head. Everyone else that's gotten dipped without having significant association with JWs in their youth, have been weirdo types. On one hand I don't knock it because it's nice that people considered freaks by much of society have some place to be accepted, but I couldn't tell you the last time I've seen someone remotely normal get baptized as a JW.
"a 20-year-old female cleaner suffered severe injuries after stealing a commuter train and driving it straight into an apartment building in stockholm, sweden.".
doesn't say which congregation she's from, though .
Oh because she cleans for a living, that makes here a JW?!?!? That's it, I'm done with this forum. Tired of being offended!!!! I'm kidding. Those pictures are crazy though! Imagine waking up to this in your den?
great time of year for us football fans !
so let's have your picks !
now that we know it will be baltimore ravens vs. new england patriots in the afc championship and atlanta falcons vs. san fransisco 49ers in the nfc championship - what do you think ?
I'm running with San Fran and New England with the latter taking it. If I'm right, my predictions were on point since the beginning of the season although I thought Denver might have taken the AFC at one point. Kinda surprised that Baltimore got em. That said Flip, I can understand your predictions between Balt and NE.
at the last elders school i heard from a few different attendees that the average age was easily 60+.
there will be a lot of elders gone within the next 10yrs.
there is nowhere near enough young brothers to replace these ageing elders.
TS,
What reason did the CO give for not recommending the super-MS?
He didn't feel the brother's field service time was diversified enough and something else that I can't relate here because my cover would be in jeopardy. Let's just say that the other reason the CO didn't recomend him was due to an issue that IS NOT a sin, but not something the WT necessarily approves of, nor encourages. Matter fact, the WT goes out of it's way to discourage what this brother had done. (let he who has understanding.....) That said because of this issue that I can't identify for you(you probably know what it is), there was some questions related to this brother's freedom of speech on this unidentified subject.
As far as the brother's field service time, again, he and his wife average more time than most of the elder body. The CO asked the secretary for his card during the meeting, and starting going through the numbers. He noticed the bible studies and then said something to the effect that one of those studies don't count because it's with his family. The he started doing a theoretical breakdown of this brother's hour average. I wish I hadda taped it so I could have relayed all of it here because it was truly disturbing. He started dividing the brother's average by the four weekends in a month, and doing the same as he did with the brother's family study in that he considered some hours to be irrelevant. It was really sad considering most of the elder body don't have bible studies outside of what they do with their family. Most of the elder body's hours in field service if held under scrutiny would appear flimsy if held to the same bar this CO was in expectation of.
In hindsight, I'm happy this brother didn't get appointed because I fear it would diminish both his and his' wife's happiness. Another thing I'm glad about is, it's made elder meetings end quicker. The body is now on the same page that if this brother couldn't get appointed and he was the cream of the crop, then why bother wasting hours on a Monday night debating the rest of the servants? Sad, but true. That's Corporate Christianity for you.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this or not, but in the most recent one day elder school, either Stephen Lett or the chairman(I can't remember which) stated that 10,000 new elders have been appointed since the last one day school in 2011. I'm guessing that figure is world-wide as opposed to the U.S.. The congregation I'm at has plenty of Servants and Elders. Not lacking anything when it comes to numbers. We've got a handful of brothers who probably will be appointed Servants in due time.
On another note I'm under the impression that the bar is being raised on what type of MS qualifies to become an elder. Last CO we had shot down what I thought was a shoo-in. The guy is like a Ministerial Servant on steroids, super servant. CO wasn't trying to hear that. The meeting in itself was very telling as it created serious animosity within the body, or at least brought hidden beefs to the surface. To be fair to that CO, he stated that he's not going to bother writing a letter on this brother's behalf as he already knows what's going to happen. Didn't make an iota of sense to me as the brother in question is averaging higher hours than 75% of the body, has a couple bible studies, good speaker, loved in the congregation and the circuit, wife is exemplary and one of the most genuine people I've ever known,etc.. Didn't matter a bit to the CO at the time. I mention this because if it's true that the shrinking pool of potential elders is legit, and I imagine it is, some of the actions by the WT don't necessarily indicate to me that they feel it's a problem. That's despite what they've printed stating the need for more men.
ok ,so this is my story , this jw girl came on vacation in my country as a friend of my girl-cousin who is not a jw but were classmates at uni .
my cousin introduced her to me but she didnt tell me that she was a jw from the very first moment we flirt each other.we went on beach ,on bars ,cafes etc and she acted so wordly ,in fact i thought she could be a good one night stand with her behaviour .never saw anything weird about her that could lead me to question something, with the peak in the club where we danced together while hugging very passionatly .
i tried to kiss her that night but she kept her distance , i didnt notice any bad on that.anyway, next day we flirt again at the the beach and at night too .

i'm a bit excited about this to be honest with you.
i'm not even remotely a cycling fan, but all this controversy made it a bit difficult to simply ignore.
i'm curious to see how he does when those questions come at him full force.

"After more than a decade of denying that he doped to win the Tour de France seven times, Armstrong was set to sit down Monday for what has been trumpeted as a ''no-holds barred,'' 90-minute, question-and-answer session with Winfrey.
The cyclist will make a limited confession about his role as the head of a long-running scheme to dominate the prestigious bike race with the aid of performance-enhancing drugs, a person with knowledge of the situation has told The Associated Press.
Winfrey and her crew said they would film the interview at Armstrong's home and broadcast it Thursday on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Local and international news crews were staking out positions in front of Armstrong's Spanish-style villa. News crews began arriving before dawn, hoping to catch a glimpse of Winfrey or Armstrong.
If he was feeling any pressure, Armstrong hardly showed it during a jog under bright skies Sunday, even as members of his legal team began arriving one-by-one at his home.
''I'm calm, I'm at ease and ready to speak candidly,'' he told the AP, but declined to reveal how he would answer questions about the scandal that has shadowed his career like an angry storm cloud."
i hear of these stories of elders swapping wives, i remember when i was young hearing of three elders in florida doing this and getting dfed.
my question is this how is it possible to bring this up in conversation?
it seems impossible, how can there be multi elders that know each other willing and the wives?
In Cleveland, they were wife swapping, looking at pornos in the hall, taking out ads in seedy newspapers, etc.. Crazy! Congregations were dissolved as a result, not to mention all that got DFd and elders that were removed.
